About the Artist Studios
Talbot Studios provides a space for professional working artists and recent art graduates. The main criteria for sourcing the artist for the studios are that they will use the studio facilities and resources to its full potential and that the opportunity for networking and exchange is maximised.
There are six studio spaces located above the gallery nurturing creative exchange, peer support, critical dialogue and artistic creation between the resident artists who work in a wide range of artistic disciplines such as painting, sculpture, photography, installation and digital media.
The Most Promising Graduate Award was launched in 2010. It offers a fully funded studio for one year to a recent graduate with participation in an exhibition of short-listed artists and a solo exhibition of work developed during the year long residency showcased in the Talbot Gallery. Through this award Talbot Studios has recognised the critical importance of a recent graduate?s first year out of college when all the support structures and mentoring is no longer there through providing a funded studio space in a vibrant group studio.
